Visitors to New York can watch or play an enormous number of sports. Popular spectator sports include baseball, American football and basketball. The city's two top baseball teams, the Mets and the Yankees, both attract large and loyal followings and for many this city epitomises this great American sport. Getting to a ball game is certainly a highlight of any trip to the US.
Likewise, the city's two American football teams, the Jets and the Giants, attract similar crowds, while the New York Knicks is the city's biggest basketball team.
